Mixing In Surround Sound – Up-mixing
by on October 4, 2019 in Tutorials

We’ve already talked about how to downmix but what if you have a stereo track that needs to be in surround sound? Well, this is where stereo up-mixing comes into play! If in our 5.1 mixes we would like to take a stereo source and incorporate it in the mix we can use an imager such as the waves  226. This does what it says on the tin it takes a stereo source and creates a 5.1 image from this with amazing accuracy. You could use this on a stereo pad to give it a larger image, a signal from a hardware synth or even a stereo music track if the producers want it in the film!
