Hi Julia, please tell us a little about yourself

I’m a singer and songwriter from Switzerland. I love blending folk, blues, rock, and pop in my music.
In 2019, I launched my solo project with an EP, followed a year later by a live session recorded in Nashville. Since then, my band and I have worked a lot on our songs, and we have played many shows in Switzerland and abroad, including the Montreux Jazz Festival. Now, I am very excited to release my debut album “Sanctuary” in February 2025.

How long have you been creating music and where did your story begin?

I founded my first band when I was 16, so I’ve been writing songs for half my life now.
But I think my love for music started much earlier. As a child, I loved sitting in front of the radio, and I remember how intrigued I was by how music made me feel. Later on, when I was about 20, I founded a band called “The Konincks.” We were a group of friends playing blues rock. We played a lot of shows, and everything I learned with this band is really the foundation of my solo career. I’m very grateful for those years.

Why do you write music and what inspires your creative process?

In the early days of my career, I started writing music mainly because I wanted to sing. But very early on, I realized that writing music is a way to express myself and my experiences in a way that I can’t do with just plain talking.
Over the years, my music became my own little world where I can make the rules and feel at ease, hence my album title ‘Sanctuary’. But I think basically, all the deep stuff aside, I keep going just because I really love singing.

Who/what are some of your key influences in music that have helped shape your sound?

I learned to love music through artists like Janis Joplin, Patti Smith, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Dylan. For this upcoming album, I was also inspired by Florence + The Machine as well as Tom Odell.

Favourite song from your new album and why?

It’s hard to decide, but I think I’ll pick the song “This Part of Town.” The song shows my blues rock roots and also my evolution into the pop world. I also like that it has quite an unusual song structure.

What can we expect to hear from you in the future?

I’ll keep writing songs and playing them live because that’s what Ilove doing.
